PHANTOM STEP: Your New Ultralight Obsession

Feel Everything. Fear Nothing.

For generations, hunters compromised. Heavy boots meant protection but destroyed your connection to the ground. Lightweight boots meant agility but fell apart after one season. Stiff soles meant support but announced every step to everything within earshot.

The Phantom Step changes the equation.

ZERO-DROP FOUNDATION

Built on a zero-drop platform, the Phantom Step aligns your body the way nature intended. No artificial heel lift throwing off your balance or causing fatigue. Your posture stays natural, your movements stay fluid, and your endurance increases mile after mile. This isn't just comfortable—it's biomechanically superior.

GROUND TRUTH

The minimal sole design isn't about being lightweight for the sake of it. It's about information. Every texture, every angle, every surface tells you something. On scree fields, you feel instability before you commit your weight. On wet logs, you sense the slip before it happens. In timber, you know when you're about to snap a branch. The Phantom Step gives you terrain data that thick-soled boots bury under layers of foam and rubber.

SILENT OPERATOR

Our carefully selected rubber compound delivers silent movement without compromise. It grips on wet rock and loose dirt without the noise penalty of traditional aggressive tread. Combined with the low stack height and flexible sole, the Phantom Step lets you place your foot deliberately, rolling from heel to toe in near silence. You're not just quieter—you're hunting with a tactical advantage.

PRECISION FIT SYSTEM

The micro-adjustable lacing system isn't a gimmick—it's a game-changer. Dial in the perfect fit in seconds with one hand. Too tight after climbing a steep ridge? Loosen it without breaking stride. Need more support for the pack-out? Tighten it down and lock it in. The system stays secure through creek crossings, scrambles, and everything in between.

DESIGNED FOR REAL FEET

The wide toe box is where comfort meets performance. Your toes need room to splay for balance and blood flow. Cramped, narrow boots cause hot spots, blisters, and fatigue. The Phantom Step gives your foot the space it needs to function naturally—improving stability on uneven terrain and preventing the numbness and pain that plague traditional hunting boots.

ULTRALIGHT ENGINEERING

At under 16 ounces per boot, the Phantom Step is in a class of its own. That's not just impressive on paper—it's transformative in the field. Less weight on your feet means less energy expenditure with every step. Over a 10-mile day, you've lifted hundreds of pounds less than with traditional boots. That energy goes into alertness, patience, and performance when the shot presents itself.

BUILT TO SURVIVE

Don't mistake lightweight for fragile. The CBB canvas and TPU upper construction provides exceptional durability while keeping weight minimal. Puncture resistance up to 800 newtons protects your feet from thorns, sharp rocks, and everything the backcountry throws at you. Water-resistant construction keeps your feet dry through wet grass and light creek crossings, with out-of-box waterproofing lasting up to 4 hours in static water conditions.

This is armor that weighs nothing.

BUILT TO DISAPPEAR

The CBB camo pattern is the result of extensive field testing in Montana's diverse terrain. It breaks up your outline in sage, blends into timber, and works from sea level to alpine. This isn't camo designed in a lab—it's proven in the places we hunt.

THREE-SEASON WARRIOR

Rated from 30°F to 100°F, the Phantom Step is your go-to boot for spring, summer, and fall hunts. The breathable canvas upper manages moisture during hard climbs while the TPU overlays provide targeted protection from brush, rocks, and the elements. This is the boot that handles opening day archery heat and late-season rifle cold with equal confidence.

MONTANA PROVEN

Designed in the shadow of the Chain of Buttes and tested in the same rugged landscape where we hunt. Every design decision was made in the field, not in a boardroom. We wore prototypes until they failed, then made them better. The Phantom Step is the result of that obsessive process.

THE BOTTOM LINE

This isn't a boot for everyone. If you want maximum cushioning, ankle support, and winter insulation, there are other options. But if you want to move with confidence, hunt with stealth, and feel connected to the terrain beneath your feet—if you believe that less weight, more ground feel, and natural biomechanics give you an edge—then the Phantom Step was built for you.

Join the barefoot hunting revolution. Move like a phantom.

I love love love my boots! I’m a huge fan of barefoot style shoes and I wanted hunted boots that would be comparable. These have exceeded my expectations! Some people complained about them being hard to get on and I think they were a bit dramatic! I 10/10 recommend these! You need them for sure!

I have been wearing them for almost two weeks on and off, hiked a few miles and even tested out the waterproofing of them and I can say is that I love them. They are very comfortable, fit great. I will definitely be supporting you guys along with buying more. I am going to show case them to my youth hunting group so some of the kids will be able to see a greatd quality boot that won’t break the bank for them. Great work, keep it up.

First off I’m in no way shape or form connected with this company I actually ran across these boots on TikTok of all places! I’ve had type 1 diabetes since I was 5 years old. Now at 37 I’m starting to get neuropathy in my feet and cannot find anything that is comfortable. By the end of a 10 hour work day my feet feel like they’re going to burn off the bones. I decided to give the CBB a try. All I can say is wow!! I own 400 dollar crispis and at the end of tac this year my feet were absolutely done for. I swore I was gonna find a boot that was way lighter and more comfortable and these are the real deal!! Give them a try people. Support a small company that could easily be charging more but doesn’t so us hunters can have more for less. I had emailed them talking to them about sizing on them and they immediately was there to help. Customer service was 10/10 just like their product that they stand behind.Absolutely cannot wait to see where this company goes and what they will have in the future.

After hiking miles through rugged terrain chasing game, my knees and hips usually pay the price. But after covering 53 miles in the Montana wilderness wearing the Phantom Step boots, I can honestly say I haven’t had a single issue with either. Comfort, durability, and performance were unreal from start to finish. Absolutely love these boots!

Durable, quiet, highly water resistant, lightweight, just a little narrow in the toe box for my 10 EEEE feet.

I purchased these as an alternative to my heavier, insulated Crispi's. When I first opened the box, there was an overwhelming plastic/chemical smell so I set them outside for about 24 hours which seemed to do the job.
I bought the same size as I wear for my other shoes. They are ridiculously difficult to get on the first dozen times...then, only very hard to put on. I can't imagine anyone has a shoehorn, but I wished they included one. It's such a pain, that I second guess wearing them just for that reason. Once they are on, they are comfortable and I haven't had any issues with blisters/hot spots (while wearing alpaca socks). I like the fairly minimalist nature of the boots while still offering decent protection against Arizona thorns and sharp rocks.
I've taken them on walks with my dog, hikes with weight, and finally out on a hunt trip last weekend. Aside from the absolute nightmare of putting these on, they held up well in the backcountry. A few times, I wished for heavier lugs on the tread, but it was rarely an issue. I didn't come across any water so I can't attest to the advertised water resistance. I twice had an opportunity to stalk an animal in dried pine needles, pine cones, and sticks and noticed a much quieter foot fall as I moved around (even with my pack on). I could feel the ground and any obstacles much more easily and was able to stop from loudly crushing a couple pine cones mid-step.
However, while I tried to be as quiet as possible, I noticed an audible squeak coming from both shoes as they flexed. I think it was the BOA system against the top of the shoe but I couldn't seem to make it stop by tightening/loosening the system. I also appreciate the simplicity of the BOA system, having used it on some trail running shoes and snowboarding boots, but I forgot how annoying it is to not be able to tighten the ankle area and leave the foot a little looser. It's all or nothing.
Overall, these are a decent choice for some lightweight, protective, and reasonably minimalist boots, but I'm not sure I'd purchase them again due to the donning hassle and the squeaking I experienced. Hopefully, future versions work those issues out and it checks all the boxes without these flaws.

Very pleased with the phantom step , the construction of boot with the quality materials is second to none , sure the boots snug and might be tough to get on in the beginning , but I’d rather trust having a nice tight fitting boot that I know is secure and durable enough to handle any terrain than a loose laced boot slipping off when I get ina tough spot , highly recommend!

Bought two pair for my brother and myself. Almost impossible to get on because top of shoe is too tight. Broke tightening mechanism first hike in.

Hey Collin,

We don't have any record of you reaching out to us earlier about the issues you are having. Your friend that purchased a pair with you reached out to us about his boots, the dial breaking. However, we would like to resolve the issue. Please reach out to us directly.

I dont know if I would call them boots. They are closer to neoprene reef shoes. Surprisingly the temperature is comfortable in mild temperatures and colder temperatures depending on sock selection of course. There is no squeak when they are wet and I am able to feel the terrain/sticks through the sole without feeling exposed or worried about briars/thorns. The lacing system is an amazing feature. The form factor is something I am not familiar with but am growing to really enjoy. I might get some for everyday wear as they are pretty comfortable (Wide toe box and zero drop). My ability to move quietly and faster while slip/still hunting is markedly better. I was worried about the color but I just rubbed some dark soil into the material while wet and they are no longer the bright/granite color.

Cheers

These boots fit great and i live the BOA system. These are exactly what i have been wanting in a hunting boot. Very pleased with my purchase

These boots have definitely impressed me. The lightweight aspect if these boots truly make slipping through the woods highly affective. Still to be determined will be durability through the entire hunting season as well has comfort and warmth they will be able to provide when it comes to late season. Look forward to providing that update at season end.

I grew up in MT so was really excited to find a boot that was not only made in MT but tested in MT! Ordered a pair right away and have really been enjoying them. Have only used them once but they feel like a really awesome boot! I also really like the idea that when a pair wears out I can easily find another rather than with so many other boot companies when you finally find a good boot then they quit making them and you have to find another.
Customer service is amazing as well, my first pair came damaged and they quickly sent me a new pair when I reached out. I also love how you know it's a person helping you with customer service rather than a robot or some overseas person. Great company and will definitely be not only buying more of these boots but recommending them to everyone.
